Buffalo Bills Big Board for 1st Round of 2023 NFL Draft, Number 2: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Here’s where we get spicy, because the Bills appear to be set at running back. The team has second-year pro James Cook ready to step into more of a full-time role. Meanwhile, Buffalo signed former New England Patriots running back Damien Harris in free agency, giving them a two-headed monster with various skills.
Let’s not forget Nyheim Hines, who is a special teams ace but can also be one of the better third down backs in this league.
However, all of that goes out the window if Texas running back Bijan Robinson is on the board at no. 27 overall. Could he be taken sooner? Of course he could. But, running backs don’t get drafted, nor paid, like they used to. It’s anyone’s guess where he goes. Let’s not forget, just a short time ago, Jonathan Taylor was a second-round pick.
Robinson is one of the decade’s best running back prospects, and is up there with the likes of Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey. But, again, there are a lot of other positions rich with talent in first-round caliber prospects.
The bottom line is, Robinson does it all well. He’s explosive. He can catch the football. He sheds tacklers better than just about anyone in this class. If he’s there, he’s the pick, period.
