Odell Beckham Jr. has a new team for 2023 and it is not the Buffalo Bills
After what has been almost a full calendar year, the rumors of Odell Beckham Jr. joining the Buffalo Bills can officially be put to rest, at least for the upcoming season. On Sunday, it was reported by a number of reporters, including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that Odell Beckham Jr. was signing with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year deal worth $18 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
The last time Odell Beckham Jr. played in an NFL game was in Super Bowl LVI when he was a member of the Los Angeles Rams. He already had made a big impact with two receptions for 52 receiving yards and a touchdown before suffering a torn ACL.
That injury would limit Odell Beckham Jr. chances to get a new deal in free agency last offseason. The former Pro Bowl wide receiver would wait until midway through the season to find a new team in hopes he could return to help a team make a deep playoff run.
Buffalo Bills were one of those rumored landing spots for Odell Beckham Jr.
The Buffalo Bills during this process have been considered one of the favorites to land Odell Beckham Jr. and he even visited with the team toward the end of the regular season. The fit made sense as Odell Beckham Jr. would be joining a high-volume passing offense with Josh Allen throwing him the football.
He also has a connection with Von Miller, with both playing for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
The Buffalo Bills didn’t reach a deal last year but didn’t seem to close the door this offseason and even remained in contact with OBJ this offseason. Ultimately the decision probably came down to money as the Bills were not in a position to offer the type of contract that Odell Beckham Jr. got from the Baltimore Ravens.
If the Buffalo Bills want to add to the position, they will still have a chance later this month in the 2023 NFL Draft but the likelihood that Gabe Davis will get another opportunity to be the starter this upcoming season continues to grow.
