Buffalo Bills continue to have one clear advantage over rest of AFC East
The Buffalo Bills have now won three straight AFC East titles after going about 25 years without a division title. This current streak began with the 2020 season with their last division title coming in 1995 when it was a five team division that included the Indianapolis Colts.
This offseason, the rest of the AFC East is hoping to close the gap on the Bills and the Miami Dolphins look to be the closest after they made it to the playoffs as a Wild Card team. It remains to be seen what the upcoming season will bring but right now the Buffalo Bills hold one clear advantage over the rest of the division.
Josh Allen gives the Buffalo Bills a clear advantage over the rest of the AFC East
The Buffalo Bills are the only team presently without any significant questions at the most important position on the roster.
The Miami Dolphins are hoping that Tua Tagovailoa can take that next step in his career as he enters his fourth season in the NFL. However, Tagovailoa has unfortunately dealt with a number of injuries that have forced him off the field and he has yet to play a full regular season in his career.
As for the New York Jets, it was made clear this past season that Zach Wilson is not the answer, and their best quarterback, Mike White, left in free agency to join the Dolphins. The expectation is that Aaron Rodgers will be under center but as this saga drags out it certainly opens the door for another team to step in and complete a deal for the former MVP.
Then there is the New England Patriots, who drafted Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has started 31 games over the past two seasons. However, rumors have been circulating that the Patriots could potentially be looking to trade Jones. It remains to be seen if this is to clear a path for Bailey Zappe, who played well in place of Jones, or for a potentially bigger deal for like Lamar Jackson.
Regardless of the reason, the Buffalo Bills continue to have a clear advantage at the pivotal position on an NFL roster. The focus for general manager Brandon Beane this entire offseason has been to build the best roster possible around Josh Allen while the other three teams are making moves while dealing with the uncertainty at quarterback.
This won’t guarantee the Buffalo Bills their fourth straight AFC East title but it does give them a big advantage over the rest of the division going into 2023.
