The Bills are not out on DeAndre Hopkins

Brandon Beane did his best to quiet the DeAndre Hopkins to the Buffalo Bills rumors saying

"“What I would say is social media is social media, don’t take that too far.”"

It is interesting to note that Beane did not actually say the rumor had no merit, or that the team did not have interest. Reading between the lines, it seems like a situation where the Bills will continue to monitor the asking price for Hopkins and keep options open to strike if the price is right and the opportunity presents itself.

In an even more interesting development, the Cardinals, who are most definitely a team in transition right now, could release Hopkins, which would then leave just the financial issue for the Bills to work through. If this were to happen, it would significantly improve the chances that the Bills would add Hopkins, as he would be looking at a limited number of teams that would provide him the opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl ring.

While adding Hopkins continues to be a long-shot for the Bills, Beane’s attempts to quiet the rumors seem very similar to the vague comments he made entering last year’s free agency period when it seemed unlikely that the Bills would make any big, splashy moves. Last year they added Von Miller to a huge free agent deal. Could Hopkins be their next sneaky big addition?
