Expect to see a lot of quarterbacks, cornerbacks, edge rushers and offensive linemen fly off the board early in the NFL Draft, as these big-ticket positions tend to be the focus early. For the Buffalo Bills, this is great news, as they enter the draft with a superstar QB in Josh Allen, quality depth at cornerback, and a defense that has ranked in the top five in the NFL for the past three seasons.

Bills GM Brandon Beane has stated that the Bills will be looking to add “playmakers” in the NFL Draft this season but will look to the offensive line first, according to Thad Brown. It would make sense to increase competition with their projected starting five of Dion Dawkins, Connor McGovern, Mitch Morse, Ryan Bates, and Spencer Brown.

While McGovern and former Ram David Edwards were great additions who provide upside and fit well in Aaron Kromer’s style of O-line play, the Bills need to add at least one young player through the draft. And while they can expect improvement from the group of players that are returning, there are plenty of options for them to add a young, controllable asset to the group through this year’s draft.

In recent years, the Buffalo Bills have focused on high upside athletes with the most notable additions being:

  • Spencer Brown in 2021 Round 3
  • Tommy Doyle in 2021 Round 5
  • Dion Dawkins in 2017 Round 2

Look for them to continue this trend focusing on high upside players and giving their coaching staff the opportunity to develop them in the coming years. With that in mind, let’s take a look at three players who make sense for them to look at in the early rounds of this year’s draft, focusing on players who are likely to still be available to them at each of their first three picks.
