For the past few years the Buffalo Bills have been a popular landing spot for running backs in the NFL Draft, typically the top player at the position.

The thought process is that this is an excellent roster but the run game has been an issue. While NFL teams have moved away from drafting running backs in the first round, the Bills could afford that luxury with the talent they have elsewhere.

As we get closer to the NFL Draft, Bijan Robinson appears to be likely off the board by the time the Buffalo Bills are on the clock. This would mean that if they were to draft a running back in the first round it would be Jahmyr Gibbs out of Alabama.

While Jahmyr Gibbs should be a productive running back in the NFL, he brings a similar skill set to the position that the Bills already have in James Cook. The Bills used a second round pick on Cook last NFL Draft and it would make more sense to give him a chance to step into a bigger role versus drafting a player very similar to Cook.
