While I believe the Buffalo Bills shouldn’t look to add another defensive end this year in the 2023 NFL Draft, there are certainly reasons they could.

The Bills haven’t gotten as much production as the draft capital they invested over the years has warranted and with Von Miller recovering from a torn ACL last season and A.J. Epenesa entering the final year of his contract the front office may consider adding another defensive end.

One defensive end that could be of interest for the Buffalo Bills is Lukas Van Ness out of Iowa. He ranks near the top of the draft class among defensive ends in speed and agility in the Relative Athletic Score (RAS) and this is one of the reasons he has moved up into the first round conversation.

While Lukas Van Ness made an impact the past two years with 13 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss, he never was a starter during his time with Iowa. The Buffalo Bills could look at this as a positive since they rotate players frequently at the position during the course of the game but with the draft capital expected needed, the hope would be to find a player who would be a little more consistent.
