The trade rumors are certainly picking up around the Buffalo Bills with a potential trade for DeAndre Hopkins being the one driving the most headlines. However, the Bills could also be looking to trade some players away and the most notable would be former first round pick Ed Oliver.

The ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is carrying a significant cap hit over $10 million dollars. If the Bills are not willing to offer a contract extension, which is possible considering how inconsistent Oliver has been, they may look to trade him over the next few weeks.

With that in mind, these are four teams that could be interested in trading for Ed Oliver this offseason.

Chicago Bears

In the past week, the Chicago Bears were considered a potential landing spot for Ed Oliver due to some cryptic social media posts by Oliver. While it seemed to be nothing more than a coincidence on Oliver’s part, the Bears could make a lot of sense as a trade partner for the Buffalo Bills.

The Chicago Bears have been very aggressive this offseason and done a great job of adding a lot of talent in a short period of time with the trade of the first overall pick that brought in D.J. Moore as well as signing linebackers T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds, who played the past five years with the Buffalo Bills.

While there have been a lot of improvements, the defensive line looks to still be a potential weakness of this defense. The Bears are a team that is ascending and might be willing to not only trade for Oliver but offer him a new contract. This would give the Bears a core player on this side of the ball alongside his former teammate Edmunds that they can continue to build around.
