4 reasons the Buffalo Bills should avoid trading for Derrick Henry
By Kevin Devine
SportsLine set off a firestorm when they set odds on where Derrick Henry will play in 2023 and the Buffalo Bills were first on that list at +300.
It is not clear exactly what criteria they used for this, but the Bills, with limited cap space, two running backs on their roster, sufficient draft capital to address a third RB through a late pick in the draft, and an offense that is centered around a superstar quarterback seem like an odd fit for the superstar.
There is one obvious reason that the Buffalo Bills would want to trade for Henry: he is a monster running back who can transform a backfield. He has been remarkably consistent over the course of his career, averaging between 4.2-5.4 yards per rush, and totaling over 1,000 rushing yards four times, while scoring double digit touchdowns each of the past five years.
He would undoubtedly give the Bills the best running back that they have had in years. However, there are reasons why making this move may not be the best investment.
