Buffalo Bills: 3 underrated free agent RBs to replace Devin Singletary
By Ryan Heckman
The Buffalo Bills could replace Devin Singletary with David Montgomery
If we’re going based off of market value and overall production, then David Montgomery would look mighty nice in Bills blue and red. Like Sanders, his projected market value sits around $7.2 million annually. But, the production outweighs that of Sanders.
Montgomery is more of a complete back who can also catch the ball and is patient in the screen game. His running style is more methodical as he allows his blocks to set up, but he’s also a very physical runner who doesn’t go down easily. Montgomery’s skillset would work well in conjunction with Cook, especially considering he is a strong goal line back.
In four seasons with the Chicago Bears, Montgomery ran for 3,609 yards and 26 touchdowns while catching 155 passes for 1,240 yards and four scores. The big question is, does Chicago let him go? They have Khalil Herbert waiting in the wing to take over that starting job, so the Bears could feel comfortable allowing Montgomery to test the waters.
On a bad Bears team for most of his career, Montgomery has been a lone bright spot and has been able to be productive despite a struggling offensive line. Getting him to Buffalo could add yet another playmaker for Josh Allen and company.
