Curtis Samuel
If the Buffalo Bills want to trade for a slot receiver this offseason, then Washington Commanders’ Curtis Samuel might be their best chance to make a deal.
In 2021, Samuel only played in five games due to injuries but when looking at his last two full seasons (2020 and 2022), he has been very productive while averaging 70.5 receptions, 753.5 receiving yards and 3.5 receiving touchdowns per season. He also has contributed on the ground with 79 rushing attempts, 387 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
The only reason that Washington might consider trading Curtis Samuel is they do have players who have similar skill sets with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson as all three are smaller, quicker wide receivers. The Buffalo Bills could get a player that steps in as the starting slot receiver and gives the position some big-play ability at that spot.
Samuel has only one year left on his contract and a cap hit of $13 million which certainly could be manageable or the Buffalo Bills could even consider working out a contract extension that would keep him in Buffalo longer and lower that cap hit for the upcoming season. While he may not have the name recognition of a DeAndre Hopkins, this could end up being the best option for the Buffalo Bills when considering likely compensation and production.
