Buffalo Bills Mock Draft: A shocking first round trade

During the 2023 NFL offseason, the Buffalo Bills might have to get creative.

General manager Brandon Beane is up against the cap with a very top-heavy roster when it comes to the financials.

The thing with this Bills roster, though, is that they are ready to win right now. On paper, and when healthy, they’re one of the best rosters in all of football. So, Beane must be ready to do whatever is necessary to fill in the gaps for a Super Bowl run this coming campaign.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Bills own the no. 27 pick in the first round. However, in our latest mock draft, Beane makes a bold move to go up and get a true difference-maker.

In the instance, we see the Bills go after the Philadelphia Eagles’ pair of picks in the first round. I would cost a lot to move up, but here’s what it looks like.

With that initial pick in the first round, the Bills snag arguably the best wide receiver in the draft in TCU’s Quentin Johnston.

The Bills need to find Stefon Diggs a running mate, and last year proved that wasn’t going to be Gabriel Davis. Johnston, on the other hand, could be that guy.

Johnston is as good a receiver as you’ll find in this draft. He has it all; the size, speed and frame of a true outside threat. At 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds, Johnston is the entire package.

If you put Johnston on this offense featuring Diggs, Josh Allen, Dawson Knox, among others, he instantly becomes that missing piece. This is a guy who will end up demanding attention once he’s established himself as a pro, and that could come as soon as Week 1. He’s that good.

Johnston averaged nearly 18 yards per reception a year ago for TCU and brings too many positive traits to pass up at the position.
