Buffalo Bills Mock Draft: Trading for big name lineman, plus WR help
By Ryan Heckman
An area the Bills thought they would be set at a little less than a year ago, cornerback, is somewhat of a question mark right now. Tre’Davious White finally started to look like himself toward the end of last season, coming off a major injury. Rookie Kair Elam had his ups and downs, as did Dane Jackson.
Taking Miami cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, here, gives the Bills a big, strong and fairly athletic guy who can play on the outside. It might allow Elam and Jackson to fight for slot duties, or simply provide great competition for all involved in camp, at the very least. At 6-foot, 214 pounds, Stevenson gives the Bills your prototypical type of outside cornerback here in the third round.
Going back to the offensive line, which the Bills already addressed with a trade for Shaq Lawson, they now draft Ohio State center Luke Wypler to help replace Morse, who could be cut to save on the cap.
The Bills need to invest in smart offensive linemen; guys who are aware and excel in pass blocking. That’s what they’re getting in Wypler. At 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, Wypler possesses average size, but he’s big enough to get the job done. His best trait comes in the mental aspect. He’s very technical and understands hand placement. He’s a very good pass blocker, overall, which is one area the Bills will be thankful to have addressed.
Wypler will be a big reason why Allen takes less hits next season, without a doubt.
