The Buffalo Bills last offseason made a big splash in free agency when they added Von Miller. Prior to his injury, the impact Von Miller had on the pass rush was noticeable and that was a move that worked out well.

However, not all the moves made in free agency by general manager Brandon Beane went as planned. There were more than a few swings and misses for the Bills and these were three free agent signings that didn’t work out as hoped.

The first player is one that might be a little unfair to put in this category because Jamison Crowder suffered a broken ankle in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens and was unable to return. However, prior to the injury he didn’t really have the impact many expected when he was signed.

During the last offseason, the Buffalo Bills elected to release Cole Beasley and make a switch at the slot receiver position. It was expected to be a competition between Jamison Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie but with Crowder’s experience, he should have had a bigger role.

However, he was limited due to injuries during training camp and McKenzie would pass him on the depth chart. Crowder’s role in the offense wasn’t able to grow much and he would have only six receptions for 60 yards during the regular season.

While he did earn the starting punt return job, it is a little bit of a disappointment as he was expected to be the starting slot receiver and wasn’t able to secure that role.
