Buffalo Bills: 4 possible cap casualties to monitor in free agency
By Ryan Heckman
Potential salary cap cuts the Buffalo Bills should monitor in free agency: Adam Thielen, WR, Vikings
In addition to getting some help across the defensive line, the Bills also need a legitimate number two option at wide receiver. Stefon Diggs is as good as they get at the position, but he needs some pressure taken off of him. Last offseason, there was a lot of momentum behind a possible Gabriel Davis breakout, but that never came to fruition.
This spring, the Minnesota Vikings will have to overhaul their roster, cutting ties with veteran names to save some money. One of those names could very well be receiver Adam Thielen, who is a Minnesota guy through and through. It would be difficult to see him in another uniform, but one team that could make it happen is Buffalo, due to Thielen’s connection with Diggs.
The two of them played together in Minnesota and enjoyed the “Minneapolis Miracle” together in that unbelievable playoff ending versus New Orleans. Thielen is a sure-handed, big-bodied receiver who does well in separating and getting himself open.
When used in the red zone, Thielen is one of the league’s best targets in that area of the field. It’s as if he just knows how to score touchdowns. That’s what he does. His football IQ and relationship with Diggs would be perfect for this Bills offense.
