Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey looks like a future NFL head coach.
As the eight remaining teams continue their quest for a Super Bowl, others are looking at filling open positions after getting a head start on their offseason. With that said, the Buffalo Bills might just have another one of their own promoted in the near future.
Offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey is one of the hotter, young head coaching candidates out there right now. He’s become a name to watch this offseason as teams continue their search, and one team in particular is eyeing him for the job.
Wednesday, it was confirmed that Dorsey will interview with the Carolina Panthers over the weekend for their vacant head coaching gig. Even though he’s prepping for the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round, Dorsey will juggle multiple things at once as he interviews for a possible future head coaching job.
The Panthers fired former head coach Matt Rhule during the 2022 season, which in turn sparked better play down the stretch and nearly got Carolina into the postseason when it was all said and done. Dorsey, a former Miami Hurricanes legend who spent a few years in the NFL, began his coaching career with the Panthers back in 2013.
Ken Dorsey leaving the Buffalo Bills would be another good sign for the organization.
Buffalo lost former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll last year as he became the head coach of the New York Giants. Now, Daboll and the Giants are feeling good after knocking off the Minnesota Vikings in the Wildcard Round.
Daboll was credited with developing Josh Allen in Buffalo before moving on to New York where he was able to get Daniel Jones to the next level.
Dorsey spent three seasons under Daboll and now looks to take his knowledge elsewhere as a head coach. In Carolina, Dorsey could have an opportunity to try and further develop Sam Darnold, who came on at the end of the season.
He’d also have an opportunity to develop a young, rookie quarterback if Carolina goes that way in the 2023 NFL Draft. Either way, it looks like his chance is coming soon enough.
