Buffalo Bills still behind Miami Dolphins in AFC East after Week 12
The Buffalo Bills have now won two games in a row after wins over the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions with both wins at Ford Field. However, they haven’t been able to get back to that top spot in the division as the Miami Dolphins have now won five in a row and have the same record as the Bills at 8-3.
The difference is the head-to-head tiebreaker which the Dolphins still own with their Week 3 win over the Bills. However, the Bills will play the Dolphins in Week 15 and they will have a chance to tie the season series with a win.
That game against the Dolphins will end a pivotal three-game stretch as the Bills play each AFC East rival over that period. It begins Thursday night against the New England Patriots, followed by a home game against the New York Jets and then they end with the Dolphins.
Buffalo Bills likely to face another quarterback when they play the New York Jets
While every team won in the AFC East in Week 12, the New York Jets might have had the most impressive win as they had a new quarterback under center. The Jets would win 31-10 in convincing fashion over the Chicago Bears with Mike White under center.
Head coach Robert Salah made the decision prior to the game to bench Zach Wilson and start White. It was the right decision as he had the offense looking the best they have all season. He finished the game by completing 22 of 28 for 315 passing yards and three touchdowns.
If the Jets’ offense is able to play like this and complement an already good defense, the New York Jets should be a tough matchup for the Buffalo Bills.
The complete AFC East standings after Week 12 are:
- Miami Dolphins 8-3
- Buffalo Bills 8-3
- New York Jets 7-4
- New England Patriots 6-5
