Defensive Player of the Year: Von Miller

This award was by far the most competitive because there were three players in my opinion who could win this award. The first player was Jordan Poyer, who despite missing three games this season, currently is tied for second in the league in interceptions with four.

Matt Milano was another player who came to mind as he also has been excellent this season and is clearly the best linebacker the team has on the roster.

However, I ultimately decided that Von Miller should be the player to win as he has been a pretty consistent presence for this defense week in and week out.

Von Miller already has seven sacks on the season and ranks in the Top 10 in the NFL in that category. He has made big plays for this team when they have desperately needed them like in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens when he was able to sack Lamar Jackson and force Ravens to settle for a field goal or last week when he had a strip sack against the New York Jets in the red zone.

The Buffalo Bills needed a big-time addition to this defense and general manager Brandon Beane made an aggressive move by signing Von Miller to the contract he did. However, the early returns have been great and Miller was exactly what this defense needed.
