When the schedule came out earlier this year, this looked like one of the marquee matchups this season as the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers were considered some of the favorites to represent their conference in the Super Bowl.
The season has certainly played out that way for the Buffalo Bills to this point as they are 5-1 coming out of their bye week. However, it hasn’t been as successful for the Green Bay Packers as they are 3-4 and currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak.
Looking ahead to this game, these are four bold predictions for Week 8 based on some of the trends coming into this game.
4 bold predictions for the Buffalo Bills in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers
Buffalo Bills’ defensive tackles have more sacks than defensive ends
Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league in protecting the football and typically has one of the lowest interception totals among starters. However, one way to get to Rodgers is by pressuring him in the pocket and he is one of the more sacked quarterbacks in the league.
This season, he has been sacked 15 times already and in three of the seven games, he has been sacked three or more times. The last time that happened was in Week 6 against the New York Jets when he was sacked four times and three of those sacks came from defensive tackles (two from Quinnen Williams, one from Sheldon Rankins).
In this game, I expect Ed Oliver and Jordan Phillips to make a big impact and take advantage of the interior of the Packers’ offensive line. I could see these two combining to have more sacks than the defensive ends, including Von Miller and Greg Rousseau.
