Buffalo Bills 2023 NFL Draft: Prospects and games to watch in Week 8

Jordan Battle, S Alabama

Alabama vs. Mississippi State 7 PM

After a rough outing against Tennessee for the Alabama defense, they and Jordan Battle look to bounce back against a high-octane passing offense of Mississippi State. Battle is the most well-rounded safety in this draft class. He can line up at either safety position and can get moved all over the defense in the defensive backfield and the box as a playmaker.

Jordan Battle comes with some of the best experience at the safety position, with over 2,500 snaps in college. He has lined up against some of the top competition in the SEC but against college football’s best teams in the postseason.

With the potential of Jordan Poyer not being extended and Micah Hyde’s future being a little uncertain with his season-ending neck injury, the Buffalo Bills will be looking not only for youth and talent at the safety position but for a player with ample experience who could potentially come in and be a strong playmaker from day one.

Battle is an ultra-aggressive safety always looking to make big plays and create turnovers. While his aggressiveness occasionally gets him in trouble, the Buffalo Bills will love how much Battle ends up around the ball. He may not always come down with an interception or pass breakup, but Battle always makes his presence known.

This is the type of player the Buffalo Bills like on the back end of their secondary—a guy always making plays around the ball all over the field.
