Who on the Buffalo Bills’ defense needs to step up in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs?
The Buffalo Bills are heading into a pivotal week with the team that’s sent them home the past two years. The AFC runs through the Kansas City Chiefs, ever since Patrick Mahomes has taken over as QB the Chiefs. They have been dominant reaching back-to-back Super Bowls, including winning one and reaching the AFC Conference Championship Game every year since 2018.
The Chiefs’ defense will have a hard time slowing down the Bills’ offense, so the defense plays a massive role in this game. The defense will have to come in with a great game plan on slowing down this new look but still a high-octane offense.
The Chiefs are 4-1 on the season with their only loss being to the Indianapolis Colts by a final score of 20-17. Other than that game, the offense has been humming all season including a 17-point comeback victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Bills had the number one ranked defense in 2021 but was shredded in the playoffs by the Chiefs. The Chiefs can score in bunches and a 10, 17, or 24-point lead is not too big of a mountain for the Chiefs to climb as they’ve proven in the past they can play from behind and be successful. The defense has to have a great week of detailed preparation for a new-look offense that likes to run the ball more than the previous years.
The Chiefs’ ability to run the ball and have success makes it almost impossible to defend. Without Tyreek Hill the Chiefs have adapted to a different brand of football as they now want to run the ball and methodically move the ball down the field and spread the ball out to more receivers. Instead of Kelce and Hill, it’s now Kelce, Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Mecole Hardman.
With all that being said here are four defensive players with a crucial role in slowing the Kansas City Chiefs high octane offense down.
