Is Stefon Diggs the best WR in the NFL? Josh Allen believes so
Josh Allen is viewed as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and he believes Stefon Diggs is the best at his position
The Buffalo Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL and this is due in large part to Josh Allen. However, he is not able to do it alone and Stefon Diggs has been a big part of the success of this offense through the first five games of the season.
Josh Allen took it one step forward and recently said on “The Von Cast” with teammate Von Miller that he believes Diggs is ‘the best wide receiver in the game’. It is certainly hard to argue with that claim as Diggs this season ranks third in receptions (39), fourth in receiving yards (508), and first in receiving touchdowns (5) after Week 5.
Buffalo Bills traded for Stefon Diggs at the perfect time
Diggs joined the Buffalo Bills in 2020 when general manager Brandon Beane was able to swing a trade with Minnesota Vikings for the wide receiver. That trade occurred at the perfect time as Allen was on the cusp of breaking out after two mediocre years in the league.
There is certainly a debate about whether Josh Allen would have reached the level he has without Stefon Diggs or if Diggs was the driving force for his improvements. In the end, it is a question that will never be answered because Diggs also made improvements since joining Buffalo.
In his first season with Buffalo, Diggs led the league in receptions and receiving yards with 147 receptions, 1,525 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns. He followed that season up with over 100 receptions, 1,200 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl each of his first two seasons with the Bills.
There are plenty of great wide receivers currently in the NFL like Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp, and Tyreek Hill. However, Diggs is probably playing the best of all of them this season.
