The standings in the AFC East have been consistently shuffling over the past few weeks ever since the Buffalo Bills’ loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 3. However, after Miami suffered back-to-back losses since that game and the Bills have now two consecutive wins, over the Ravens in Week 4 and the Steelers in Week 5, Buffalo is back atop the division.

The question now is who might be the biggest threat in the division and it doesn’t appear like it was the team that gave Buffalo their only loss on the season.

New York Jets look like the biggest threat to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East

One of those losses for the Miami Dolphins was within the division as they were blown out by the New York Jets by a final score of 40-17. They would lose the game due to their struggles in stopping the run as the Jets would score five rushing touchdowns.

While the prevailing thought would be to dismiss this result because the Dolphins were down to their third string quarterback, the performance on defense is the reason Miami should be concerned.

Meanwhile, the Jets have now won three of their last four with wins over the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Dolphins. They have gotten Zach Wilson back for the last two games from his knee injury in the preseason and they have a good group of rookies that are starting to make a big impact like Breece Hall and Sauce Gardner.

This is a team that is probably going to continue to improve as the season goes along. Are they going to realistically push the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East? Probably not. However, they look to be the biggest threat in the division at this point of the season.

New England Patriots (2-3)
