Tyrel Dodson
This week the Buffalo Bills not only were without safety Jordan Poyer but also linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The defense was missing a lot of experience in Sean McDermott’s defense up the middle of the field.
While Jaquan Johnson made his second start in three weeks in place of Poyer, this was the first start for Tyrel Dodson at linebacker in place of Edmunds this season. It was also his first start since Week 5 of the 2020 season.
The Buffalo Bills were going to need Dodson to have a good game in the middle of this defense and he did just that by leading the team in tackles with 11 as well as a sack and tackle for a loss.
The Bills made a notable change this offseason at that the third linebacker position, which was a role that A.J. Klein was in for a few seasons. However, after this game, it appears the team made the right choice by making Tyrel Dodson the primary backup.
