3 reasons Xavier Rhodes would be a great signing for the Buffalo Bills
Zone Heavy Defense with the Indianapolis Colts
In his last two seasons, Rhodes has been a starting cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts. During his time with Indianapolis, he would have 29 starts with three interceptions and 19 passes defended.
According to Pro Football Reference, Rhodes allowed a completion percentage of only 55% over those two seasons, and QB ratings when targeting him were 84.5 in 2020 and 97 in 2021.
One of the reasons why Rhodes might have had a bit of a career resurgence could have been the defensive scheme the Colts ran the past two seasons. It is a similar defense to the Buffalo Bills as both utilize zone-heavy schemes and takes some of the pressure off cornerbacks.
It is unlikely that Buffalo would put Rhodes out there full-time right from the start if he were to be signed but he certainly could give the team quality snaps rotating with Ja’Marcus Ingram as soon as Sunday with his experience and knowledge.
