The turning point of the game for the Buffalo Bills took place right before halftime that helped propel them to the win
The Buffalo Bills once again came away with a blowout win, this time at home against the Tennessee Titans and by the final score of 41-7. However, the game really only became a blowout in the second half as the Bills would score 24 points in the third quarter.
The first half was a much more competitive matchup between these two teams as the Bills would score on their opening drive. The Tennessee Titans would answer with a touchdown of their own on their first drive of the game.
In the second quarter, the Bills would break the tie with a field goal by Tyler Bass but the offense wasn’t looking nearly as efficient as it was on that first drive or the prior week against the Los Angeles Rams.
One area in particular that they struggled was on third and fourth down and on their second and third drive of the game, they had a 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 opportunity and failed to convert either.
What was the turning point of the game for the Buffalo Bills?
On their final drive of the first half, once again the Buffalo Bills were struggling in these key downs. The Bills were inside the five-yard line and facing a 2nd and 1, which resulted in an incomplete pass that almost was intercepted.
Then on 3rd and 1, the Bills were called for a false start that backed them up five. On the next play, Knox would catch a pass that picked up five yards and put the Buffalo Bills in a 4th and 1 situation.
The Bills elected to go for it and Josh Allen would find a wide-open Stefon Diggs in the back of the end zone for what would be his first of three touchdowns on the night. This touchdown would put Buffalo up 17-7 and give them a 10-point lead heading into halftime.
However, if the Bills didn’t find the end zone on this play, it could have significantly changed how the game might play out. The Titans could have looked to run out the clock on the first half knowing they would be getting the ball to start the second half.
Any points on that opening drive would have been a potential big swing in momentum to Tennessee where they could tie or even take the lead.
However, the Buffalo Bills once again found a way to make the play in these pivotal moments, and this is one of the reasons they are 2-0 on the season.
