The Buffalo Bills offense with new play-caller Ken Dorsey got off to a great start to the season in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams. They would score 31 points, generate over 400 net yards, and convert 90% of their third down attempts.
Aside from the four turnovers, which seemed to correct as the game went along, it was nearly a perfect game from the offense. The bar has been set fairly high heading into this game against the Tennessee Titans, who struggled to contain the New York Giants offense.
When looking at this game, these are four players on the Buffalo Bills that are worth watching closely in Week 2.
Buffalo Bills Player to Watch: Gabe Davis
This is going to be a big season for wide receiver Gabe Davis as he steps into a full-time starting role opposite Stefon Diggs. In Week 1 against the Rams, he was on the field for 98% of the snaps (most among all wide receivers) and had four receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown.
Last year against the Titans, Josh Allen threw for over 350 yards and while Stefon Diggs had an impressive game with 89 yards and a touchdown, it was in fact Emmanuel Sanders who led the team with 91 receiving yards. He particularly did a good job beating the defense deep with an average of 18 yards per reception, including a 31-yard reception.
Davis has shown in his career a good ability to make plays down the field and this is a game where he certainly could test the Titans’ cornerbacks, which is a mismatch in favor of the Bills’ wide receivers. If the focus remains on slowing down Stefon Diggs, expect Gabe Davis to have very winnable matchups that should set him up for a big game.
