Will Ed Oliver be ready to return?
The Buffalo Bills fortunately left Week 1 without much in terms of injury concerns. However, there is one player worth watching the injury reports for this week and that is defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
The former first round pick left the game against the Rams with an ankle injury and the severity is unknown at this point. On Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott did say that Oliver would not practice that day. He was also joined by defensive tackle Tim Settle as players not participating according to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.
The Bills appear as if they want to prepare for the possibility that Oliver or Settle won’t be able to play by signing defensive tackle Prince Emili to the practice squad. This is notable considering they already had two other defensive tackles (Brandin Bryant and C.J. Brewer) on the practice squad and could be an indication that they aren’t very confident they will have all defensive tackles on the active roster available.
The fact that they have an extended break with their game against the Los Angeles Rams being on Thursday and their matchup with the Tennessee Titans on Monday certainly gives both a better chance of returning in Week 2 but is worth watching this week.
