The NFL season is officially about to start in a few hours when the Buffalo Bills play the Los Angeles Rams in the first game of the 2022 season. While it remains to be known how the season will play out the Bills have been a popular pick to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

However, if the latest simulation of the 2022 season in Madden 23 is accurate, it could be a tough season for the Buffalo Bills. The Madden 23 simulation run by Matthew Liebl at App Trigger had the Buffalo Bills winning the AFC East but only winning it with a 9-8 record.

"“”Quarterback Josh Allen has another impressive season with 5,118 passing yards and 35 touchdowns; however, he does throw 18 interceptions. Devin Singletary handles most of the rushing with 248 attempts for 870 yards and a whopping 15 touchdowns. On the receiving side of things, it’s another stellar season for Stefon Diggs who crosses the century mark for receptions (101). His 1,448 receiving yards are the fourth most in the league.  Third-year receiver Gabriel Davis, who steps into a starting role for the first time, catches 75 receptions for 1,103 yards and six touchdowns.”"

The reason for the struggles was on the defensive side of the ball as the Bills finished near the bottom of the league in points allowed (461 points). While the Bills are going to be without Tre’Davious White for at least the first four games, it would be surprising for the defense to struggle that much.

Last year, the Bills allowed the fewest points in the league with an average of only 17 points per game. They significantly improved the defensive line this offseason and that hopefully can offset some of the absence of White.

How does the Buffalo Bills 2022 season end in the Madden 23 simulation?

The struggles on the defensive side of the ball weren’t even the most surprising part of this Madden 23 simulation. The Bills would enter the playoffs as the four seed and fortunately would come away with a 38-28 win over the Cleveland Browns in AFC Wild Card Round.

This would set up another home playoff game for the Bills as the Jacksonville Jaguars would upset the Baltimore Ravens. However, the Jaguars would continue their Cinderella run through the playoffs as they beat the Buffalo Bills by a surprising final of 50-46.

The hope is that this season will be a special one for the Buffalo Bills and hopefully this simulation in Madden 23 is not a sign of things to come.
