Cooper Kupp

On the offensive side of the ball for the Rams, there is no question that the top priority is slowing down Cooper Kupp. However, this is easier said than done as Kupp was incredible last year as he led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,546), and receiving touchdowns (16). He would be named to the Pro Bowl, first-team All-Pro, and also win Offensive Player of the Year.

The challenge with stopping Kupp is that Sean McVay moves him all over the field from inside at slot to outside. While he has played a majority of the snaps in the slot last year, this could be a week where the Rams want Kupp on the outside for a few reasons.

The first is that the Bills’ best cornerback on the field in Week 1 will be Taron Johnson, who is primarily a slot receiver. By moving Kupp outside they can challenge the inexperienced group of Dane Jackson, Kaiir Elam, and Christian Benford.

Also, the Rams appear like they will be without Van Jefferson this week due to a knee procedure earlier this summer. If this leaves Kupp and Allen Robinson as the two top wide receivers the Rams could be creative by putting Kupp on the outside and using Darrell Henderson in the slot or run more two tight end sets.
