5 storylines for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams
First big test for offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey
The final storyline is how the Buffalo Bills’ offense does in their first game under Ken Dorsey, who replaced Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator. Daboll is now the head coach of the New York Giants and the Bills promoted Dorsey to offensive coordinator from his previous role as quarterback coach.
It made sense for the Bills to promote Dorsey as he already had a relationship with franchise quarterback Josh Allen. However, there is also a certain level of risk because Ken Dorsey has never called plays in a regular season NFL game.
During the preseason, the offense has been up and down with them struggling against the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers but looking great against the Denver Broncos. That game against the Broncos is probably the important one as that was the only game the starters played in this preseason.
In this game, it will be interesting to see how Dorsey is able to adjust over the course of the game. Most teams come in with a game plan as well as a play script for the first drive or the first 10 plays but the good offensive coordinators are the ones that can adjust from that point and when things aren’t working make those necessary changes.
The Rams have a good defense with players like the previously mentioned Donald, Bobby Wagner, and Jalen Ramsey. This is going to be a big test for Dorsey and the Buffalo Bills offense.
