There weren’t many surprises for the Buffalo Bills’ 53-man roster but one was Quintin Morris making the 53-man roster and the team carrying three tight ends. The former undrafted free agent has had a good preseason and certainly looked like he belonged in this offense.

However, Morris may not have been as much on the bubble and had more of a secure spot on the roster as he was listed as the backup to Dawson Knox and ahead of Tommy Sweeney.

The hope when the Buffalo Bills signed O.J. Howard was that they could run more two tight end sets this season. While Howard didn’t work out, Quintin Morris potentially can still give Ken Dorsey that option. The biggest question is around his blocking, which is still a work in progress but having Knox and Morris working in the middle of the field will create challenges for defenses.

Last year, the Buffalo Bills had only two tight ends on the 53-man roster and both were active most weeks. If the Bills want to keep an extra running back active, it is hard to imagine they keep three tight ends as well. This means that it will likely be Morris who is active on game days over Tommy Sweeney if the Bills have two tight ends available for that game.
