The Buffalo Bills announced their initial practice squad on Wednesday but at the time still had three open spots. Those spots were filled by the team on Thursday when they added tight end Zach Davidson, cornerback Kyler McMichael, and offensive tackle Ryan Van Demark.

This is a quick scouting report for each of the new additions to the Buffalo Bills practice squad.

Buffalo Bills’ latest additions to their practice squad

Zach Davidson

Zach Davidson had a unique college career at Central Missouri as he was both the team’s punter but played tight end in his final two years in college. As either a punter or a tight end, he is a tall player for his position at 6’6″ but has the potential to be a good yards after the catch tight end.

He was a fifth round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 and spent last year on their practice squad.

Kyler McMichael

Kyler McMichael was an undrafted free agent signing by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was part of their final round of cuts. In college, he began with Clemson before transferring to North Carolina and in total had 47 tackles and one interception.

As noted in his scouting report on NFL.com, McMichael has good size as a perimeter cornerback but could convert to safety in the future. He looks to be a replacement for Nick McCloud, who was claimed by the New York Giants.

Ryan Van Demark

He also was an undrafted free agent signing this offseason and was with the Indianapolis Colts. He was released and the Colts did try to bring him back as part of their practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. However, he elected to join the Buffalo Bills.

The addition of the former UConn tackle makes it clear that the Buffalo Bills look for a very specific type of player for that position with draft picks Spencer Brown, Tommy Doyle, and Luke Tenuta over the past two years with all four offensive tackles are 6’6″ or taller.
