Eli Ankou

Eli Ankou spent most of the year on the practice squad but the second half of last season started to get called up and consistent playing time as the Bills dealt with injuries at the position. He played well in limited action with nine tackles and one sack in five games.

Ankou started training camp on the PUP list and wasn’t activated off that until last week. On Saturday, Ankou got a chance to play in his first preseason game of the year and made a big impact with a sack on the Broncos’ final drive that cost them 19 yards and ended the drive.

The Buffalo Bills value depth across their entire defensive line and four spots at defensive tackle are essentially locked in with DaQuan Jones, Ed Oliver, Tim Settle, and Jordan Phillips. They may want to have a fifth defensive tackle on the 53-man roster to work into the rotation.

It wouldn’t be surprising if that battle comes down to Ankou and Prince Emili, who had an excellent game in the first preseason game of the year.
