The Buffalo Bills have one of the deepest and most complete rosters in the entire NFL. In one of the most incredible sports franchises turnarounds of this century, Brandon Beane and company have built one of the most well-rounded rosters in the NFL.  However, one position still had significant question marks coming into this season. That position? Punter.

Last offseason, the Bills signed Matt Haack after moving on from veteran Corey Bojorquez mainly due to Bojorquez’s issues as a holder. Haack was much better than Bojorquez as a holder but left a ton to be desired regarding his main job on the Bills, punting. This offseason, the Buffalo Bills not only restructured Matt Haack’s contract cutting his pay but also spent the first pick of the sixth round on “Punt God” Matt Araiza from San Diego State.

The Buffalo Bills have one of the most intriguing battles in the league. Araiza came to the Bills with a huge reputation and the highlight reel punts seen across social media. However, Araiza was not only the punter but also the kicker in college, meaning he has no experience holding, something the Bills view as a necessary skill for their punters.

Even though this battle between the two Matts was highly publicized by many, I think it is time that we recognize that this is no longer a competition.
