James Cook
The Bills’ second round draft pick was James Cook and played the fewest snaps among the draft picks outside of punter Matt Araiza. The former Georgia Bulldog running back played only eight total snaps with seven on offense and one on special teams.
The one special teams snap came on the opening kickoff as Cook was back to receive and did return the kickoff 20 yards. This was a little surprising as Cook didn’t really return kicks in college and the coaching staff may have put him out there to see what he could do in that role.
Among the offensive snaps, Cook was heavily involved as he got three carries, picking up five yards, and one reception, which also went for five yards.
As the preseason goes along, I would imagine that James Cook sees more snaps to get him up to the NFL speed. However, he may not be productive as he is a versatile playmaker and offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey may not want to show what his role is going to be in this offense.
