Tim Settle

In a very under-the-radar move, the Bills signed Tim Settle to a two-year, 9 million dollar contract during the free agent period. A 2018 fifth-round pick, Settle played his entire rookie contract with the Commanders, but due to Washington’s abundance of talent on the defensive line, he never saw more than 33% of the snaps.

However, despite his low snap count, he recorded five sacks in 2020, and for his career, he records a pressure on over 10% of his pass rush snaps.

Settle looked fantastic in the Buffalo Bills’ preseason game against the Colts. Consistently lined up against top-tier offensive linemen in Quenton Nelson and Ryan Kelly, Settle consistently bull rushed them, knocking them off balance and recording pressures. Settle also showed he could disengage from blocks and make tackles in the backfield in the run game.

Settle was buried behind recent first-round picks in Washington but now faces less competition in Buffalo and the Bills rotate their defensive linemen as much as anyone. Expect for Settle to wreak havoc on opposing offenses in 2022.
