5 players on the Buffalo Bills who disappointed against the Colts

For most of the players on the Buffalo Bills roster, Saturday was a good afternoon of football. The Bills fell behind to the Indianapolis Colts but were able to rally and come away with the win on a Tyler Bass field goal as time expired.

However, there were some players who didn’t play as well as expected and struggled. For some players, this could be the difference between making the roster and being one of the final cuts. The good news for these four players is that there are still two more preseason games to make an impact and show that this first game was the exception.

Case Keenum

At the top of the list has to be quarterback Case Keenum, who got a chance to step onto the field for the first time with the Buffalo Bills. The team traded a seventh round pick to the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason for Keenum to replace Mitchell Trubisky as Josh Allen’s backup.

On Saturday, Keenum played the first half and completed 11 of 18 passes for 86 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, and one fumble. It was not a good first impression for the veteran quarterback, specifically the turnovers.

This is something that Keenum has done a good job limiting in his career and while one interception was a deflection, the other was particularly bad. Keenum attempted to throw a back shoulder pass in the red zone but the Colts’ cornerback watched the whole way to make the turnover.

Case Keenum should not be in jeopardy of losing the backup spot to Josh Allen but the coaching staff would probably like to see more from the veteran over the next two games.
