Pro: An experienced wide receiver for Josh Allen

Outside of Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver position is relatively inexperienced. The Bills elected to not bring back Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley this offseason, who have combined for 321 career games. They are going to be replaced by Gabriel Davis and Isaiah McKenzie, two players who look to be in line to be full-time starters for the first time in their careers.

The Bills do have Jamison Crowder, who has 96 career games, but he has primarily been a slot receiver and likely wouldn’t factor as an outside wide receiver.

The addition of Odell Beckham Jr. would give Josh Allen another veteran wide receiver to lean on, particularly in the playoffs. The Buffalo Bills certainly should give Davis and McKenzie chances to prove they can play in these big games, and Davis already did with his four-touchdown performance against the Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round.

However, a veteran like Odell Beckham Jr. that could step in at a moment’s notice if the need arose would be great for a team that relies so heavily on the passing game.

If the Buffalo Bills were to sign Odell Beckham Jr. it would certainly draw headlines but it may not have a huge impact, particularly in the early part of the season. It would be a good move because it brings experience and depth to the position but the starting job should really go to Gabriel Davis.

If Odell Beckham Jr. is comfortable in a limited role in this offense then the Buffalo Bills need to find a way but it needs to be clear that Gabriel Davis is going to be the starter as he has earned that opportunity.
