4 things we learned from Day 5 of Buffalo Bills training camp
More offensive line shuffling
In addition to the Hyde update, Parrino did also note that Dion Dawkins was not at practice today as he was excused for personal reasons. The Buffalo Bills have been shuffling the offensive line seemingly on a daily basis as they try to find the right combination but also deal with some injuries to players like Rodger Saffold and Ryan Bates in addition to Spencer Brown being brought along slowly.
According to Thad Brown, the new offensive line on Friday had Tommy Doyle stepping in at left tackle with Greg Mancz and Cody Ford at guard, Mitch Morse at center and David Quessenberry as the right tackle.
While it is tough to get much of a read on the offensive line it is interesting to note that Greg Mancz has been at the left guard the whole camp while a player like Greg Van Roten hasn’t been with the starters much. This is also another opportunity for Cody Ford who began camp with the starters but was moved back to the second team during the middle of the week.
It would also appear that Tommy Doyle has the inside track to be the team’s backup swing tackle and the primary backup at left and right tackle. Dion Dawkins was very complimentary of both Doyle and Spencer Brown on Wednesday and the coaching staff may agree based on where they are practicing.
