The Buffalo Bills knew they would have a new starting slot receiver this season after releasing Cole Beasley. It was expected that the player replacing him was going to be Jamison Crowder, who is a veteran slot receiver that the Bills signed to a one-year deal.

However, Isaiah McKenzie has had other plans. So far, McKenzie has looked excellent this training camp and has been with the starters almost every practice. Prior to Wednesday’s practice, offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey spoke about how good the speedy wide receiver has been this summer.

One of the reasons that McKenzie has been able to spend so much time with the starters is due to the fact that Jamison Crowder is dealing with some injuries that have forced him to miss some practices this week.

It will be interesting what this position battle looks like once Crowder is back but for right now, McKenzie is seizing the opportunity and could be in line for an expanded role in this offense this season.
