Is quarterback Josh Allen’s Madden 23 ratings too low?
Over the past week, EA Sports has been slowly rolling out Madden 23 ratings for each position group and quarterbacks were one of the final groups. This is one that Buffalo Bills fans were expected to pay close attention to as Josh Allen is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
While some players seemingly got fair ratings in the latest version of the Madden franchise, Josh Allen’s overall rating was a little surprising and there was a case to be made that it was too low.
Josh Allen’s Madden 23 ratings: 92 overall
Josh Allen is the fourth highest rated quarterback in Madden 23 with an overall rating of 92, which seems low for the franchise quarterback. He has been one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league and with the way he is able to scramble he should be a favorite of fans to play with in this year’s game.
There are some areas where they view the Buffalo Bills quarterback as elite, like throw power where he has a 99. He is the only quarterback with a 99 rating and is two points ahead of Patrick Mahomes in this category.
He also has the highest break tackle rating among quarterbacks with an 83, which is two points higher than Lamar Jackson.
However, the areas that seem to hold him back in these rankings are the accuracy ratings for short (89), medium (87), and deep (88). Meanwhile, the quarterbacks ahead of him in overall ratings (Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes) all rank over 90 in those categories.
Josh Allen also received a significantly lower rating in awareness compared to those quarterbacks with only an 86. Once again, the three quarterbacks ahead of him are all well over 90.
While it was good to see Josh Allen in Top 5 among quarterbacks in Madden 23, he should have been a few points higher in his initial overall ratings. The latest version of Madden is expected to be released next month on August 19th.
