Is Gabriel Davis ready to step into the lineup as a starter?

Another big question for the Buffalo Bills’ offense centers around Gabriel Davis, who is now stepping in as the starter and replacing Emmanuel Sanders. The former fourth round pick has started at different times the past two years but this is the first year that he is the clear starter from the beginning of the season.

The Bills should feel confident about what Davis brings to this offense as he has played well when given the opportunity, like his four-touchdown performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. This also isn’t like adding a free agent wide receiver that needs time to get familiar with Josh Allen as they have built that connection over the past two years.

However, any time making a change like this creates some questions and there are a few concerning stats that could limit Gabriel Davis’ performance. The most notable is a low catch rate that is under 60% for his career and the fact that he has eight drops in two seasons doesn’t help this stat.

The Buffalo Bills are clearly very confident in Gabriel Davis considering they didn’t bring in any players to compete for this spot and it will be interesting to see what he is able to do with this expanded role in 2022.
