Underrated Buffalo Bills AFC East Rival No. 2: Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

This one might be surprising, however, Tua Tagovailoa is one of the most disrespected quarterbacks in the NFL.

Sure, he might not be Tom Brady, but believe it or not, only one quarterback in history has been Tom Brady; and that’s Tom Brady!

Tua Tagovailoa is incredibly underrated, however, this season will be the true test as to what Tagovailoa can do.

With all the distractions in Miami, it’s hard to blame Tua for all the shortcomings as a quarterback. Put most young quarterbacks in the situation Tagovailoa was in with the Dolphins, and there’s a high likelihood that most, if not all, quarterbacks perform similarly.

Again, this isn’t saying Tua Tagovailoa is the best quarterback to walk the face of the planet, but to say he’s arguably the second-best quarterback in the AFC East isn’t stretching the truth by much.

Tua Tagovailoa career stats

13-8 record; 449/678 (66.2 comp %); 4,467 yards; 27 TDs; 15 INTs; 78 rushes; 237 rushing yards; 6 rushing TDs

So, as shown at least by the stat sheet, Tua isn’t a bad quarterback.

He’s a young quarterback that was on a team with a supporting staff that seemed to want nothing to do with him. That’s not a recipe for success, and yet, Tua was still an average to above-average quarterback.

Now, with a coach that seems to believe in him, as well as all the offseason moves made by the team, Tua Tagovailoa could be due for his true breakout season this year.
