The Buffalo Bills entering training camp should be confident in the roster they have put together over the offseason. This is one of the most talented teams in the league and really doesn’t have many glaring weaknesses.

Even still, that shouldn’t stop general manager Brandon Beane from trying to find ways to add talent and potentially improve the roster. One area that they could look to add a player would be cornerback.

The Bills did draft Kaiir Elam in the first round and the hope is that he will be ready to start Week 1 for this defense. However, at this point that isn’t a guarantee, and combined with Tre’Davious White returning from an ACL injury, it could make sense for the team to add some veteran cornerbacks as insurance.

When looking at the cornerbacks still available, these five players make the most sense starting with the biggest name but the player most unlikely to join the team.

The best cornerback still available is Joe Haden, who was a first round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2010 and played his first seven years in the NFL in Cleveland. He would be released prior to the 2017 season and it didn’t take him long to find a new home as he remained in the AFC North and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he has played the past five seasons.

Over his 12-year career, he has started 148 games and had 29 interceptions and 155 passes defended while making the Pro Bowl three times.

He still has the talent to be a starting cornerback in the NFL and this may be why he hasn’t signed yet. He could still be looking for an opportunity to be a starter (ideally with a contender) but if he is willing to be a backup, then Buffalo could be a great chance for him to potentially win his first Super Bowl.

It would also give the Buffalo Bills a player who could start early in the season if they want to ease Tre’Davious White back in or if Elam is not ready to be a full-time starter.
