5 options for Buffalo Bills to add depth at cornerback before training camp
Xavier Rhodes
Among all five players on this list, Xavier Rhodes to me makes the most sense and would be the best addition. Rhodes was a first round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013 and played seven seasons with Minnesota.
After being released prior to the 2020 season, Rhodes would join the Indianapolis Colts and was a starting cornerback for them the past two years, even at this stage of his career. He would have three interceptions, 19 passes defended and quarterbacks completed only 56% of their passes thrown in his direction.
He may not have the position flexibility of Chris Harris Jr. or Janoris Jenkins but outside of Joe Haden, he played the best recently among this group. The addition of Rhodes would give Buffalo an experienced cornerback that provides good depth at the position and can start early in the season or later if the team suffers an injury here.
Whichever direction the Buffalo Bills take, it is clear that there are still great options at this point of the offseason and general manager Brandon Beane should consider looking to add a veteran cornerback before training camp.
