On the defensive side of the ball, the front office put in a lot of effort to overturn their defensive line and this includes on the inside at tackle. Of the four players who are expected to be atop the depth chart, three were free agent additions with Ed Oliver the only player expected to return from last year’s roster.

While there is no clear starter alongside Ed Oliver, I believe that it will be DaQuan Jones due to his experience. However, the free agent signing that could have the biggest impact is actually Tim Settle Jr., who previously played four seasons with Washington.

The talent that Washington had on their defensive line forced Settle down the depth chart but he was still able to make an impact with 48 total tackles and seven sacks in the last three seasons while not playing more than 33% of the defensive snaps in any of those seasons.

He also appears to be the most well-rounded defensive tackle among the three free agent additions as he does a good job both against the run but also getting pressure on the quarterback. It wouldn’t be surprising if he had the best season of all the free agent signings at the position.
