Among all the backups on an NFL roster, the backup quarterback is arguably the most important because the quarterback position is the most important on a roster. If the Buffalo Bills were to lose Josh Allen for an extended period of time, it would be a significant loss for this team and the offense.

While the Bills wouldn’t be able to find a quarterback to replicate exactly what Allen does, they were able to find a veteran like Case Keenum. He has a track record of being able to step in at a moment’s notice and put his team in a position to win by limiting turnovers.

Even if Keenum doesn’t see the field, he can still have an impact on this team. One of the big questions for this team is how Ken Dorsey will do as offensive coordinator and a key factor to his success will be getting his playbook in place and everyone in this offense on the same page.

The fact that the Bills added a veteran like Keenum should help in this transition leading up to the season but also during the season is another voice on the sideline for Dorsey and to help Allen.
