TYLER MATAKEVICH. A. . . Buffalo Bills

Free Agent Contract: 2 years, $7.1 million

Out of all of the top free agent signings from the 2020 offseason, the only player still on the roster is linebacker Tyler Matakevich. This is rather surprising considering that it was only two years ago but Matakevich has been an excellent free agent signing and has played a big role in the team’s success.

Matakevich was a seventh round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016 and in his first four years in Pittsburgh developed into one of the best special teams players in the league. That performance has continued with the Buffalo Bills and was one of the reasons they agreed to a one-year extension last year that kept him in Western New York through this season.

In his two seasons in Buffalo, he has played over 75% of the special teams snaps each year and has even started to see some time late in games on defense. Last season, he recorded his first career interception, late in the blowout win over the Houston Texans.

The special teams unit is often overlooked but the Buffalo Bills have done a relatively good job over the past few seasons in this part and Tyler Matakevich is a big reason for that.
