The Buffalo Bills were expected to have three practices during their minicamp this week but after two practices, the team decided to cancel their final practice and close minicamp early.

The next time the entire team will be together is at the end of July in Rochester at St. John Fisher College for the beginning of training camp. Before looking ahead to training camp, let’s take a look at some things we learned from the minicamp this week.

Bills’ offense is ‘light years ahead’ with Ken Dorsey

On Tuesday, head coach Sean McDermott met with the media prior to the team’s first practice of the week. One of the big questions for the team this season is how this offense might look with new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

Dorsey replaced Brian Daboll and this will be his first season calling plays in the NFL. However, he has plenty of familiarity with how the offense previously worked under Daboll and quarterback Josh Allen as he spent a few seasons as quarterback coach.

The promotion of Dorsey to offensive coordinator certainly has its benefits. McDermott said that the offense is “light years ahead” with Dorsey compared to bringing in an offensive coordinator outside of the franchise.

The reason being is that a new offensive coordinator wouldn’t only bring in new plays but also new terminology. The fact that some of this will carry over with Ken Dorsey calling the plays certainly helps everyone involved.
